  • Program Aims

      The aims of the Entomology/ chemistry program are:

  1. Understanding life’s basic science of Entomology including physiology, pest control, embryology, behavior, ecology relation between insects and other organisms.
  2. Have the ability to deal and identify the different kinds of insects (harmful and benefit insects).
  3. Studding the environmental aspects of ecosystems, parasitology for human health and the safe development of the animals.
  4. Qualifying the student to serve and conduct research in a wide range of disciplines such as toxicology, insecticides chemistry and pest control.
  5. Canstudent integrate and develop the professional transferable skills as exemplified by communication, information technology, problem solving, and life-­. Learning and teamwork to participate effectively in research activities.
  6. Qualifying the student to apply the skills of methodology to a range of techniques used in chemistry, physics, mathematic, computer, botany, microbiology to serve entomological field.
  7. Qualifying the student to work in various job opportunities for entomology as researcher in academic, educational and environmental institutions. Opportunities are in toxicology, public health and agricultural pest control, agricultural, chemical, biological supplies, forensic sectors and others.
  8. Acquiringthe highIslamicmoralsthrough goodkeepersof the Wholly Koranand Islamic Studies to achieve the objectives of the faculty and university aims.
  9. Learn, in addition to scientific courses, beliefs behaviors, doctorine, holly Quran, hadith and Tafseer through Islamic studies.

 

 2- Intended learning outcomes (ILOs) for Entomology/Chemistry program:

  1. Knowledge and understanding:

  By the end of the program the students should be able to:

A1– Explain the basic scientific facts, concepts & principles techniques and related theories in the area of biology and related subjects of basic science.

 A2– Illustrate characters, structure, function and genetics in the scientific area of botany, zoology, entomology and microbiology.                         

A3– Identify the processes and mechanisms supporting the structure and function from the atom to the organism accurately.

 A4– Define the related terminology, nomenclature and classification in animal systems and plant taxonomy.

A5– Explain the theories and methods applied for interpreting and analyzing data related to pure science and technological applications.

 A6– Describe the developmental biological progress in the related ontogeny and phylogeny.

 A7– Express the correlation between animal and plant organisms with the environment.

A8– Identify specific and general vocabulary and sentence composition for improving the reading skills

 A9– ان يكون الطالب قادرا على تعريف علوم القران والعلوم الاسلاميه ذات الصله وخصائصها وعلاقتها بالبيئه المحيطه

A10– Demonstrate how the integrated Knowledge of organic chemistry determines their biological functions using classification, nomenclature, mechanisms, basic applied and stereochemistry.

 A11– Explain the basic requirements for describing coordination compounds

Transition metals through the electronic configuration of periodic table and biological systems

 A12– Mention the relation between the bulk properties of solid state and the solution properties of kinetic, surface and colloid chemistry.

 A13- Identify the chemical nature of environment and nuclear system using instrumental analysis with special focus on insecticide.

 A14– Enumerate economic importance insects and insect management and control of insecticides ticks, mites.

A15– Describe the agricultural and medical importance of insects as pests and vectors of diseases in economical and medical entomology.

 A16– Identify the relation between insect taxonomy and their physiology and anatomy.

  1. Intellectual Skills:

      The graduates must be able to:

B1-Differntite between the essential facts, theories, concepts and principles of biology and related subject of chemistry, mathematics, geology and physics to solve the problems.

B2-Analyze a wide range of biological data for qualitatively and quantitatively investigations.

B3-Select lines of argument and appropriate judgments in accordance with the scientific theories and concepts for biological systems.

B4– Postulate procedures and mechanisms for biological processes and related subjects on scientific basis.

B5-Select several related integrated information to confirm, make evidence, and test hypotheses for the biological systems.

B6– Consider an Islamic subjects in  English language and common  scientific terminology.

B7- Deduce forensic evidences.

B8-Choose suitable insecticides and insect control protocols based on combined basic knowledge of toxicology.

B9 – Interpret the quantitative chemical and biological data from graphs, figures, tables and equations.

B10-ان يكون الطالب  قادرا علي استنباط الادلة الشرعية  

  1. Professional and Practical Skills

      The graduates must be able to:

C1.Perform the appropriate techniques and considering scientific guidance in Entomology and related subjects.

C2.Use the techniques and tools considering the scientific ethics in the areas of chemistry / Entomology.

C3.Interpret practical training and drawing for solving problems using a range of formats and approaches in both scientific area of chemistry and Entomology.

C4.Apply the different methods used for preparing, processing, interpreting and presenting data for biological samples.

C5– Handle chemical materials safely, particularly insecticides and conduct risk assessments taking into account their physical and chemical properties.

C6 –Apply statistical analyses and computational tool to interpret entomological and chemical experimental data.

C7-Evaluate the validity and relevance of literature review in a critical thinking approach.

C8-Consider sample size, accuracy, precision and calibration in dealing with biological and chemical materials.

C9-Employ contemporary information retrieval, insect rearing, taxonomic keys, bioassays and tools of molecular biology.

C10– تطبيق الفهم الفكرى للمفاهيم والمبادى والاخلاق الاسلاميه فى ظل وسطيه وسماحة الدين الاسلامى
