Program aims
The Entomology program aims to:
- Understand life’s basic science of Entomology including insect morphology, anatomy, taxonomy, physiology, pest control, embryology, behavior, ecology and relation between insects and other organisms.
- Have the ability to deal and identify the different kinds of insects (harmful and benefit insects).
- Study the environmental aspects of ecosystems which affect the development of insects.
- Contribute effectively to understand the subjects related to public health of animals and human through the study of medical entomology and other courses including molecular biology and genetics of entomology.
- Qualify the student to serve and conduct research in a wide range of disciplines such as toxicology and pest control.
- Integrate and develop the professional transferable skills of the student communication, information technology, problem solving, life-learning and team-working to participate effectively in research activities.
- Qualify the student to apply the skills of methodology and techniques of chemistry, physics, mathematic , computer, botany and microbiology to serve entomological field.
- Qualify the student to work in various job opportunities for entomologists as researcher in academic, educational and environmental institutions. Opportunities are in toxicology, biotechnology, public health and agricultural pest control, forensic entomology and others.
- Acquire the high Islamic morals through study of the holy Quran and Islamic subjects to achieve the objectives of the university aims.
All these aims are provided all subject in conjunction to Islamic frame which ties students with Quran and Sunnah.
