  1. Program Mission:

The mission of the mathematics program is to provide high quality education in pure and applied mathematics in order to prepare students for graduate studies or professional careers in mathematical sciences and related fields. This program allow the student to become acquainted with the elementary tools of mathematics and the techniques to use them. We provide students from disciplines that require a strong background in mathematics the opportunity to acquire the mathematical knowledge and the reasoning skills necessary to make effective use of mathematics. We strive to teach our students to communicate mathematical ideas effectively and to use basic computational skills, mathematical models and technology to solve practical problems.

  1. Program Aims:

This program provides students with the fundamental competency and characteristic style of thinking and problem solving. The aims of this program are to encourage and enable students to develop a critical appreciation of the use of information and communication technology in mathematics. The students will obtain abilities to critically assess numerical and graphical information; learn to formulate strategies for solving problems; and acknowledge the importance of being intellectually curious throughout their adult lives

The program aims to:

  1. Enhance the ability of students to use mathematics as a way of thinking and as a language for communicating ideas.
  2. Prepare graduates specialized in mathematics to work with others as part of a team, in business, industry and commerce to solve a variety of problems such as translating mathematical situations into computational procedures, or designing mathematical models to predict the behaviour of phenomena in different situations.
  3. Extend student’s comprehension of key mathematical concepts and provide them with an in-depth understanding of specialized areas of mathematics and their applications.
  4. Support the student’s ability to link the theoretical to the practical application of scientific side.
  5. Develop the ability of students to use numerical analysis, algebra, shapes, data handling, probability and related subjects in basic science.
  6. Develop students’ skills to recognize and use various types of reasoning and methods of proof and use computer science applications to solve mathematical problems
  7. Prepare a generation of academic researchers highly qualified to work  in a wide range of careers such as teaching and research jobs in a variety of educational institutions
  8. Help students to understand how mathematical ideas interconnect and build on one another.
  9. Apply mathematical methods for other areas of knowledge and utilize scientific facts and theories to analyze and interpret practical data.
  10. Learn, in addition to scientific courses, beliefs, behaviours, doctrine, Holly Quran, Hadith and Tafseer through Islamic studies.
  1. Graduates Attributes:

In addition to the general attributes of the graduates of Basic Sciences, the graduate of the Mathematics program will be able to:
