Dr. Yousef Amer, Vice President of Al-Azhar University, said that Al-Azhar Foundation is a mosque and a university under the leadership of His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Sages. The world is suffering from a real crisis, which is the intensification of violence and hatred as a result of some of the wrong practices committed in the name of religions, including ignorance. Amer said during a ceremony organized by Ambassador Lawrence Westhoff, the Dutch ambassador in Cairo, yesterday evening on the sidelines of the workshop held between the professors of Al-Azhar University and professors of the Netherlands, that some political and economic systems have increased the gap and suffering among human beings as a result of the wrong practices, The responsibility of saving humanity from destruction lies with the scientists and the wise, university professors and academics, especially since we are not against any political or economic system. Hence, it is imperative for us all to cooperate in the elimination of all these inhumanities and cooperate in order to achieve this. He pointed out that the follower of the death of the student Maryam Egyptian in the United Kingdom knows that it is the result of hatred generated by individual errors and therefore we are all required to put our hands together in the fight against violence and extremism and prevent recurrence. At the end of the ceremony, Al-Azhar Vice President thanked the Dutch Embassy in Cairo for their sincere cooperation and sincere efforts towards cooperation, which resulted in the holding of two workshops. In conclusion, Baukia Daekstra, Coordinator of the People's Diplomacy of the Netherlands in the Middle East and North Africa, presented Dr. Yusuf Amer with a book entitled South of the Arabian Peninsula in the collections of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, thanking him for his sincere efforts for constructive cooperation and building bridges of strong relations.
