Al-Azhar University is participated IN HAQAA INITIATIVE AFRICAN QUALITY RATING MECHANISM (AQRM) INSTITUTIONAL EVALUATIONS

Association of African Universities (AAU) is preparing to undertake the HAQAA Initiative African Quality Rating Mechanism (AQRM) institutional evaluation of Al-Azhar University on the 16th and 17th July 2017.

Al-Azhar University is selected to be one of the fifteen Universities of Africa to be rating by the international experts within the international project (HAQAA) implemented by the European Union and Union of African Universities.

It's worthy to mention that Africa has more than 1500 Universities, from which 15 universities were selected on continental level. Three countries – one University from each- were selected from each geographical region (North, South, East, West & Central Africa) were selected.

North Africa is represented by Egypt, Algeria & Morocco. Al-Azhar University represents Egypt, as well as North Africa with Algeria and Morocco.

THE VISITING TEAM

This will be made up of three international experts:

 Dr. Violet Makuku (AAU, HAQAA project officer)

 Prof. Hortense Atta Diallo (African Expert, Vice president University NAGUI ABROGUA Abidjan, Cote D'ivoire).  

Prof. Volvoka Tatjana (European Expert, Prof. of Strategic  management and Innovation, member of HE council, Lativa).

The team is expected to arrive in Cairo on the 15th of July 2017 and leave on the 18th of July 2017.

REASONS FOR THE AQRM EVALUATION

The main reason is to build a quality culture in African Higher Education so that institutions remain locally relevant and internationally competitive.

EXPECTED BENEFITS

-International recognition that the academic institution had been peer reviewed by African and European Experts.

-Identification of weak areas that require improvement.

-Identification of institutional strengths and capitalize on them.

-The whole exercise also reveals the broader picture of priority areas where resources can be channeled.

This Rating mechanism is the first work of Al-Alzhar excellence international Bureau in order to put our hands in the strengths, opportunities excellence, uniqueness, and also identify weakness from the point of view of international experts  and provide decision makers with recommendations to lead the University toward global leadership.

As an activity of Al-Azhar excellence international Bureau over the past year, Al-Azhar University joined the call that released on December 2016 to JOIN AQRM. Selection of Al-Azhar University emphasizes the importance of its local, and international status. As part of its historical role in spreading tolerance, peace, it's pioneering role in education, scientific research, community service, and humanity as one of the oldest, and largest Universities in Africa to be an active partner in the process of developing higher education in Africa.
