The African Union has announced that it will carry out some projects in the coming period. The African Union channel, under the name of "AAU", will be established as part of the implementation of the strategy of developing the African continent in all its fields.
Ndoumou Dahlamini, representative of the African Union, said that the Union calls on the African universities to work hand in hand to make these projects a success.
The opening ceremony of the regional headquarters of the Union of African Universities, organized and hosted by Al-Azhar University on Tuesday morning, was held at Al-Azhar Conference Hall under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi (President of the Arab Republic of Egypt) Prof. Dr. Mohamed Hussein Al-Harasawi (President of Al-Azhar University).
The opening ceremony will be attended by the Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar Grand Mosque, the President and Vice-Chairmen of the University, Professor Khalid Abdul Ghaffar (Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research), Dr. Orlando Antonio (President of the Union of African Universities), Dr. Etienne Ahti , As well as the presence of a group of ambassadors of some African countries from all over the continent in its five geographical regions.
The ceremony will be followed by the organization of the First Olympiad of African Universities, which was held by Al-Azhar University in its first season. This coincides with President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi taking over the post of President of the African Union.
