Launch of the first Olympiad of African Universities in Al-Azhar

The opening ceremony of the First Olympiad of African Universities kicked off today, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and the Grand Imam of the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.

The opening ceremony of the First Olympiad of African Universities will be held in the presence of Dr. Orlando Antonio, President of the Union of African Universities, Dr. Etienne Aheli, Secretary General of the Federation, delegates from 26 African universities and a host of African Ambassadors from all over the continent.

Al-Azhar University is responsible for the organization of the Olympics in its first season, which reflects the status and universality of Al-Azhar's message and its role in cooperation and spreading the values ​​of tolerance and peace among the peoples of the continent.

These events coincide with Egypt's presidency of the African Union. The African Olympic competitions included several sports, including "Football, Basketball and Athletics" with the participation of 631 players from 26 African universities participating in the Olympics.
