This came during the opening of the regional headquarters of the Union of African Universities, held by Al-Azhar University on Tuesday morning at Al-Azhar Conference Hall under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi (President of the Arab Republic of Egypt) and the Grand Imam of Imam Al-Azhar Dr. Mohammed Hussein Al-Harasawi (President of Al-Azhar University).
The opening ceremony will be attended by the Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar Grand Mosque, the President and Vice-Chairmen of the University, Dr. Khalid Abdul-Ghaffar (Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research), Dr. Orlando Antonio (President of the African Universities Union), Dr. Etienne Ahti (Secretary General) , As well as the presence of a group of ambassadors of some African countries from all over the continent in its five geographical regions.
This is followed by the organization of the First Olympiad of African Universities, which was held by Al-Azhar University in its first season. This coincides with President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi taking over the post of President of the African Union.
